Wave of Hope
Philani Sikobi is one of the SafePlace Youth Mentors and helps run and organize SafePlay for over 250 kids each week. On the weekend, he runs a Surf Academy with a smaller group of kids from SafePlay. The Surf Academy provides sixty kids from rural communities the opportunity to experience the ocean and surf- something they would never be able to do otherwise.
As an experienced and decorated Surf Coach, Philani is able to not only find talented young surfers, but is also change lives as a mentor and life coach. Surfing provides opportunities to travel and meet inspiring people, but also is a tool to teach life skills and support the kids' and their families. These youngsters are part of the NSC Church and Youth Programs and have become part of the family.
Philani wants to change lives through the gift of surfing-not to make world champion surfers, but world-changing young men and women.
"Surfing is my passion, and a powerful tool to connect with young people and give them hope!" - Philani Sikobi, Coach
